I don’t know what most white people in this country feel but I can only include what they feel from the state of their institutions. James Baldwin on The Dick Cavett Show [X]

^^^^!!!!!!!!

I will reblog this every single time it crosses my dash without fail because this is at the heart of basically any discussion about racism that I will ever have.

watuknobout REALITY & TRUTH?

White people, all white people, even the good ones, even the allies, even the ones who I will recommend when someone says “give me an example of a white person who isn’t racist,” even the ones I communicate with on a daily basis outside of tumblr about everything, even the ones I love dearly and the ones who love me:

This is the price of the privilege you enjoy everyday.

This isn’t meant to shame you. It’s just something I need you to realize. What we talk about here is not just something cute for you to reblog. It’s real. It killed someone tonight just three houses down from me. He wasn’t the first. He won’t be the last. I could be the next one.

Please understand that this is serious. This is real. We’re trying to stay alive, you know? We don’t want it to always be like this. The police were called to help him and they murdered him. I know you want to help, but there is no help, because this is white privilege, this is white supremacy, this is institutionalized murder of black and brown bodies. The cops will get off. The victim will be demonized. You will benefit from all of this.

This whole system needs to be torn down. I’m so tired.

Confronting the Contradictions of America’s Past

Bill and Dr. Khalil Gibran Muhammad discuss what we should learn from our racial past to better understand the present.

We are told ‘if you work hard, you’ll succeed’-but if that were true, black people would own this country.

WHITEWASHING IN WRATH OF THE TITANS (2012): - “Andromeda is the Ethiopian princess, whom Perseus rescued and married. She became queen of Mycenae and, after her death, a constellation and galaxy. Andromeda’s mother Cassiopea was extremely proud of her own beauty (and this is practically all we know about her). And so strong was the pride of this Ethiopian queen, that she could not help comparing her beauty with that of the immortal NEREIDS, boasting of being better than they all. For this reason the NEREIDS were angry, and Poseidon, sharing their wrath, sent a flood and a sea-monster to ravage the land [x].”

As stated in a post before, Andromeda has been whitewashed throughout the history of Greek Mythology/History. Its so entrenched in the minds of readers and scholars everywhere that the fact that she comes from and was born in Ethiopia (and is a woman of color) flies right over their heads. It doesn’t register. So it comes to no surprise that in WRATH OF THE TITANS, Andromeda is portrayed as a blonde, blue-eyed white woman, portrayed by British actress Rosamund Pike (Pride and Prejudice, 2005).

mythology & lies often go quite well together IMHO(bservation). this is 1 of the primary reasons 3y3 am highly spiritual but NOT the least bit religious.

  • Historical context must be understood when talking about racist, murdering pieces of shit like Andrew Jackson
  • Racism didn’t exist in 1830

Actually it does need to be said:

  • Why haven’t you educated yourself on issues affecting extremely impoverished areas?
  • If we really care about what’s going on in the world, why then, for instance, do UNICEF videos have…
